  • Wowie, people are crashing from killing enemies with melee weapons since this evening's update?

[string "lib/units/enemies/cop/copdamage.lua"]:1911: cannot use undeclared global 'action_pass'

Must be the code at line 1864 and of course, 1911 as mentioned in the error.

  • Hey Hassat,

About five minutes ago I came up with this little idea of creating a fresh page to list the skins by safes instead of cluttering up the Safes article. I've gone and created a template that we could use to produce examples like this little page here. That way we can just drop a link to the list on the main article and the readers can head over to the subpage to browse. It also has the added benefit of not messing up the navigation, since Wikia now treats tabs as separate headers, and looking up skin trivia on the old page was a headache as the browser keeps defaulting to the page Trivia sections.

    Lemme know what you think.

    • That trivia BS is kinda a bother on every single page though. Wish we could disable that. So much Trivia-issues :(

        Loading editor
    • Should be able to solve most of the tab issues along with freeing up article real estate with my new template though.

        Loading editor
    • Or, alternatively, we could swap the entire Skins/Trivia subtabs with my new template and be done with it. Sure, the page would still look ultra-long in source mode, but at least most of the bulk would not interfere with article navigation since they don't have generic tab names anymore.

  • Hey Hassat Hunter! I'm Jamie from FANDOM's Community Development team! Not sure if we never asked you if you are interested in turning on the Discussions feature for this community, and migrating the Threaded Forums across as well.

In case you are unaware of the feature, Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. Discussions also links with our FANDOM Apps, which this community has and it allows app users to easily take part in Discussions as well. You can read more about Discussions here.

For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.

If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions and Forums will be sunsetted as a feature, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.

Feel free to have an open discussion with your community about this, and I'm available for any questions you might have. Have a good one!

  • It seems LGL is copying Overkill's approach to item hunting with their Dog Tags. As far as I know there are about 30 of them in each map and draw from a pool of possible locations like the Courier Packages, though I don't know what collecting all 30 in a map will unlock other than an achievement.

I'd look for them myself too in the final game, though if it's not too much I'd like to ask you for a hand in this.

    Cheers.

The playtesting is pretty low in popularity at Overkill, perhaps?

  • Hey Hassat,

Since I haven't played RAID yet, are there any differences in how the game treat gun stats between it and PD2? I figured if it does then maybe we should work up another infobox for the RAID-specific ones, with appropriate colors to tell them apart from those in PD2. Or you know, just do the thing you did with the heist infoboxes again and give RAID its own color.

    Cheers

    • Seems to be pretty much the same, albeit without Threat and Concealment.

Gun weaponboxes need an overhaul anyway, all the extra stats and stuff still use the old skilltrees :/

  • Hey Hassat,

I was just wondering if we should include the upcoming RAID: WWII on this wiki or not, since it is also co-developed by Overkill, uses the exact same engine, is PAYDAY in all but name and plays roughly identically if the devstreams are any indication. The PAYDAY team also heavily advertises it on the PD2 newsfeed, don't you know.

In a way it is sort of like how the Fatal Frame and Clock Tower wiki do it, where every game from the same creator is included regardless of continuity, though not the case if they are also part of a larger series (e.g. Overkill's The Walking Dead, whenever it comes out anyway). In RAID's case it could be slotted under "Spin-offs" since it is not confirmed to be related to the PAYDAY canon, though knowing Lion Game Lion and Overkill I think they'll connect both games retroactively later on.

    Just an idea though.

    • i wanted to propose expanding the wiki to include john wick chronicles and overkill's other games a while back but it didn't really seem to make sense at the time

        Loading editor
    • RAID has more in common with PAYDAY than Wick, though. For all intents and purposes it is just PAYDAY 2 reskinned and modded somewhat.

Even the main cast are explicitly described as bank robbers, for crying out loud.

    • Fine by me, though I likely wont be playing it for a while since I doubt they'll just grant me a copy :(

No to all Starbreeze games though, unless you also want Antisphere, or as said John Wick Chronicles, Dead by Daylight etc. etc.

Raid makes sense though, although if it's here on this wiki it'll have the PAYDAY crew background, I doubt we can change that per title?

        Loading editor
    • I suppose a more "generic" background could work. Not necessarily too generic to the point of being irrelevant, but one that doesn't focus as much on the Payday gang so that it doesn't look out of place on RAID articles.

  • Do you think you can rename this file to ArbiterCase1.jpg? I didn't see the "More Options" button while uploading the image.

  • Hello!

I think I will get going with the portable infoboxes, Hassat, because I'm feeling a little bothered that they have been left untouched for a good while after I drafted them. You won't notice many differences, but it'll definitely be simpler when you don't have to "DIV" now and then.

    • Can't speak for the rest, but I'm mostly ignoring it since Wikia's pushing it, and if there's anything I know of Wikia "upgrades" it's that they totally suck and I have to find manually fixes to unfuck Wikia for me.

Navbar at the top? Haven't used it since they changed it. Heck, I just wanted to look up Captain Winters for your characterbox change and boy, is it unneccessarily hard, and I'll definitely just search Captain Winters in the future (after all it now only goes to special (payday 2) anyway so why bother.
Diff changes? Wikia was unusable till they changed them so you could actually see what the hell was going on?
Mobile look? I'm using a custom .css to widescreen the Wikia, because if I didn't, I literally would NOT be here, at all, guaranteed.

I'm just really not looking forward to their next fuckup, and if they do another mobile-thing again that I can't unscrew and totally ruins me over, I'm out. Not for Overkill, not for the game, but for this damned site that keeps getting backwards.

    • Looks like I'll wait with the portable infoboxes then, but I'll still make drafts for their portable counterparts without affecting the parent.

  • Hey there,

I'd like to mention that combining the "ach_name" and "achievement" parameters into one as per Breakin'Benny's suggestion is a terrible idea.

    1. Achievement icons on the wiki can either be PNGs or JPGs. Unless you can come up with a soft switch to enable the template to auto-detect extensions on the go, sticking with a separate icon value is preferrable.
    2. Having the achievement name being the same as the icon also gives it .jpg or .png at the end. The icon itself also calls up an error as it looks for an <achievement name>.jpg.jpg file instead of just .jpg, because of the way the template is set up.

TL;DR: I'd much prefer the old version more than this one. Will be temporarily reverting to it since it works a lot better than the current iteration.

    • Then it could likely be done same as gadgets.
Saves having to do the whole community/dlc thing each page too.

    • This should work. The ammo reduction for HE and Dragon's Breath ammo types seem identical on any given shotgun, so I've only set two parameters, one for them and one for AP Slugs.
