The Akimbo Patchett L2A1 submachine guns are a primary weapon available in PAYDAY 2 that was added in Update #178.

OverviewEdit

Patchett L2A1 submachine guns can be dual-wielded in the primary weapon slot for their greatly increased damage output at the cost of precise aiming, stability and the opportunity cost of being unable to use other primaries.

All akimbo weapon modifications cost 40% extra than their normal price.

TriviaEdit

  • The Patchett L2A1 was based on the Sterling SMG variant of the same name (Sterling L2A1, designated the Patchett Machine Carbine Mk.2 by the British Army), therefore making it one of the few weapons in the game to retain its real-world designation.
    • It becomes the Sterling L34A1 when fitted with the Suppressed Barrel.
    • The Patchett with its Short Barrel is likely based on the Sterling Mark 7 "Para-Pistol".
    • Equipping the Akimbo Patchett L2A1 submachine guns with the Heatsinked Suppressed Barrel and Short Mag causes them to strongly resemble the BlasTech E-11 rifle's various configurations (all of which were dressed up Sterling prop guns made by the movie studio's armorer) wielded by Imperial Stormtroopers in the Star Wars movie series.
      • Incidentally, the E11s were infamous for their poor accuracy, in which they couldn't hit any of the protagonists, allegedly due to high recoil despite being a directed-energy weapon, whilst the in-game iteration will also have very poor accuracy and stability.
  • Priced at $1,288,000, the Akimbo Patchett L2A1 is tied with the Akimbo Tatonka and Akimbo Uzi for being the most expensive weapons in the game.
  • The Akimbo Patchett L2A1 submachine guns' stocks are folded, but the inventory icon depicts their stocks having been removed entirely, while the FBI Files depict them as being unfolded.
  • The Akimbo Patchett L2A1 submachine guns may feel as if they are firing faster than the standalone weapon despite the unchanged rate-of-fire. This is due to the fact that the left-handed weapon will always fire immediately after the right-handed one, resulting in a more rapid, if not doubled, series of discharges.
