Following the release of the Ambidexterity/Akimbo perk/skill, two Heather SMGs can be dual-wielded as the player's primary weapon. This greatly increases their damage output at the cost of impaired precision aiming, Stability reduction and quite obviously, the lack of a more capable primary.
All akimbo weapon modifications cost 40% more than their normal price.
The Technician's Mag Plus skill is useful for enlarging the weapon's magazine capacity by adding 10 to the magazine with the basic skill, and 30 with the skill aced.
A laser sight is very beneficial for this weapon due to its high demand for accurate shots to get the most out of its low ammo pool. Much like for LMGs, the laser sights will give the user a more clear idea where the shots will land.
Aim for headshots to maintain ammo efficiency.
Due to the high ammo pickup rate, it is recommended that one always try to pickup enemy ammo drops, thus making back most of the ammo that they lose.
Acing Fully Loaded will provide the player with a means to remedying the Heather's rapid ammo consumption. Additional Ammo bags may help as well.
Make extensive use of the Unfolded Stock mod, as it increases the Heather's Stability by a great margin while not affecting Concealment in any way.
Although the main flashlight has a toggle switch, the laser sight component of the LED Combo is pressure-activated, meaning the laser will stay on as long as the pressure switch is depressed. This switch is not placed where it should be, however (on foregrips, magazine wells, etc...) and is instead ziptied to the main taclight, leaving no plausible mean for the user to toggle it without awkwardly moving their off hand off the weapon and gripping the attachment itself.
Due to it supporting a wide array of weapons, the Speed Pull Magazine is the first single modification to have multiple different icons.
The Speed Pull Magazine equips the AMCAR, Para, and AMR-16 with the Milspec Mag., but despite this they neither get increased magazine capacity nor reduced concealability, however it equips the Mark 10 with its Extended Mag and does give it increased magazine size, but does not increase stability nor does it decrease its concealment. Additionally, equipping the Speed Pull Magazine on the AK.762, Golden AK.762, and Krinkov will give them the AK's 5.45mm Bakelite magazine, despite the mismatched caliber.
Despite increasing the weapon's overall profile, the Unfolded Stock does not incur any hit to Concealment. It was probably intentional, however, seeing as its value remained unchanged despite the many updates released immediately after the Jimmy Character Pack's introduction.
The Heather was based on the TsNIITochMashSR-2M as evident by its folding foregrip, with "Heather" being the English translation of "Veresk", the nickname of the real weapon.
It is the first SMG to support dual-wielding.
The Akimbo Heathers are reloaded off screen.
The Akimbo Heathers may feel as if they are firing faster than the standalone weapon despite the unchanged rate-of-fire. This is due to the fact that the left-handed weapon will always fire immediately after the right-handed one, resulting in a more rapid, if not doubled, series of discharges.
According to the announcement site blurb, Jimmy always packs a pair of Heathers while on a mission.
It is unexplained why the Akimbo Heathers' vertical grips are not folded as they are never utilized.
